ISLAMABAD: The oil and gas regulation authority (OGRA) on Tuesday proposed to the government an increase of up to 213.7 percent in the increase in the price of gas for domestic consumers from January 2020, according to News.



The government will notify OGRA within 40 days of its notification, which would bring Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGCL) to collect billions of consumers. The increase would mean that SNGPL, which supplies the gas supply to the Punjab and KP, would have raised about 244 billion Rs and that SSGCL, which supplies gas to consumers in Sindh and Baluchistan, would have raised Rs275 billion.
It is worth mentioning here that this is the second time that gas prices have risen during the term of the current government.
The federal government will notify the new gas price starting from January next year.
The highest increase for domestic gas consumers falling on the first slab of SNGPL is 213.7 percent and 192 percent for SNGPL consumers.
The regulator decided to increase the gas price for domestic gas consumers by 191 percent, 135 percent for the fertilizer industry, 31 percent for consumers falling into the broken tandoor category, commercial, industrial, industrial export with zero classification, captive power plants, compressed natural gas (CNG), cement and power plants.
The tariff for the first slab of domestic consumers of SNGPL gas rose from Rs121 per million British thermal units (mmbtu) to Rs353.26 / mmbtu; the speed of the second plate is increased from Rs300 / mmbtu to Rs353,46 / mmbtu. For the third plate, the speed was reduced from Rs553 to Rs530 / mmbtu and also the fourth plate was reduced to Rs706.9 / mmbtu from Rs738 / mmbtu.
The speed for the fifth plate was increased to Rs1.273 / mmbtu from Rs.107 / mmbtu together with the sixth plate from 1.460 / mmbtu to Rs1.679 / mmbtu.
For the government, semi-governmental offices, hospitals, clinics, maternity homes, government pensions, military disorder, universities, colleges, schools, and private educational institutions, orphanages and other charitable institutions along with residential shelters and colonies that are supplied with gas through mass measurers, including captive power, the rate has increased from Rs780 / mmbtu to 1026,1 / mmbtu.
For rotators, the gas velocity for consumers consuming up to 1.0 hm3 / month has increased from Rs110 to 353.46 / mmbtu and for those who consume more than 1.0 hm3 at three hm3 / month has increased from Rs220 / mmbtu to Rs706,19 / mmbtu For those who consume more than 3 hm3, the speed has been increased from the current Rs700 / mmbtu to 920.86 / mmbtu.
For the commercial sector, including ice factories, the rate increased from Rs1283 to 1687.8 / unit. For the industry in general, the tariff has increased from 1,021 to Rs1343.14 / mmbtu. For registered producers or exporters of five sectors with zero classification and captive power, ie fabrics (including jute), carpets, leather goods, sports and surgical items, the flat rate has increased from 786 to 1,033.99 / mmbtu. For CNG stations, the gas speed increased from 1283 to 1,687.8 rupees / mmbtu. Even for cement plants, the gas speed increased from 1,277 to Rs 1,679.9 / mmbtu.For the first plate of the national consumer in the SSGCL system, the tariff was increased from Rs121 / mmbtu to Rs379.62 / mmbtu, the second speed of the Rs300 / mmbtu plate to Rs379.62 / mmbtu; third plate from Rs553 to RsRs569,43 / mmbtu. The speed of the fourth plate is increased to Rs759.24 / mmbtu from Rs738. It is interesting to note that the rates for the fifth and sixth plates were reduced respectively to 1,091.87 Rs / mmbtu of 1.107 Rs and 1440.05 Rs / mmbtu of Rs1460 per mmbtu.
The gas rate for the commercial consumer of gas, including ice factories, has been reduced from Rs 1,254.89 / mmbtu to Rs 1,237.74 / mmbtu.
The tariff for the industry has been reduced from Rs998.79 / mmbtu to Rs985.14 / mmbtu. For producers or exporters registered in five sectors with zero classification and captive power, ie fabrics (including jute), carpets, leather goods, sports and surgical items, the flat-rate tariff has been reduced to Rs757.8 / mmbtu from Rs768 , 31 / mmbtu. The speed of the gas at the methane station was reduced to Rs 1,237.74 / mmbtu from the current of 1,254.89 / mmbtu.
In the southern region, the speed of gas for cement factories was reduced to 1,241.43 / mmbtu from 1,248.49. For power plants and IPPs, the tariff has been reduced to Rs794.43 / mmbtu from Rs805.44 / mmbtu today.
Pakistan Steel will also get gas at a lower price and its rate was decided at Rs985.14 / mmbtu compared to the current rate of 998.79 / unit.
